I recently restarted my laptop and I am unable to get a display on the built-in monitor of my laptop. All I see is a black screen with an unblinking cursor in the top left corner. I recently installed a bunch of Nvidia and cuda stuff in order to run Tensorflow on the GPU so I am thinking that might be part of the problem. If I plug my laptop into an external monitor I get display output. I have tried altering the display options but so far no luck.

I saw a post that suggested that I do a full reinstall of the OS, but I really don't want to do that.

Any ideas on why I might be running into this? Also, I seem to frequently run into problems like this. Is there some way that I can make sure my laptop can run Linux and be more reliable?

Let me know if there is anymore information that would be helpful to know.

Best, Matt
